Teaching Them To Journal
I worked as a Juvenile Detention Officer for years and I found it difficult to communicate with the kids at first. I learned quickly that they opened up when I shared relevant stories about my life. I shared how I use to put my feelings on paper in a form of a poem to express myself. I eventually wrote a book as a tool to communicate with them. It went so well that I was told that I should publish it, so with the help of my family I did. I purchased some copies and sent them out to a few Detention Centers in hopes that it can help someone else by showing them everyone has a story.
