Paper Heart Attack
One of my favorite activities to do with students is a paper "Heart Attack". I was introduced to this idea when some friends of my daughter "heart attacked" our front door. I took this idea and now do it at school. As a principal, with the students' help, I have the opportunity to do a "Heart Attack" for every classroom teacher. Teachers sign up for me to come for a class visit and I let them know that they have to leave the classroom during my visit. It is a break for them and gives me and the students time to pull off a "Heart Attack". I pre-cut out different sized hearts from colored paper, card stock, or construction paper and bring those with me. Older students can cut out their own if needed. Students write down compliments, appreciations, and kind messages to their teacher on the hearts, and tape them up around the classroom. When the teacher returns, the students call out "You've been 'Heart Attacked!" Once I even had a class wait until their teacher returned and then taped all the hearts onto him! 😄 If doing it for a secretary, custodian, or principal, you can tape all the hearts to their door or front of their desk when they are not there and they can be surprised when they return. This activity can also be done at home, for a friend, neighbour, or loved one. It is always a fun activity for the students and I know the teachers enjoy it as well. It puts a smile on everyone's face! 😊
