A Ride
Due to finances; being a single mom and teacher, I had to return my car back to the dealership. So I was walking a mile every day to drop my son, who was only a year off; thankfully his sitter was a mile away, and then half a mile to school. I remember watching the school buses going by, wishing I could hop on one, but imagining how that conversation would go with the students. Eventually I found a ride home with a fellow teacher. It was after taxes, that I found out I was going to get a refund, and decided I would put it towards a car, when I found out another teacher, Mrs. Windsor, at my school was thinking of selling a truck. It originally had been planned to go to her son, but her in-laws planned on giving him a better car. So when I asked her about it, she immediately said that she would just give it to me.. for a dollar. I have been blessed by many in my life, but not like that. She warned me the truck might not go far, but it lasted 6 years until we sold it for a better one. I think back often of her act of kindness and I’m not sure I will ever have something like that again; I was fortunate to have it once, but hope someday I can give like she did for us. ❤️
