A Christmas Candle
I am a hopelessly shy, socially inept teenager. For the longest time, my only friends were books. Recently, I had to stay overnight for a conference with these two girls. I worried that they would be cliquey and I would be stuck with my well-worn copy of "Anne of Green Gables". But this could not be farther from the truth. These girls were endlessly kind to me, helping me come out of my shell and engaging me in their conversations. I am a great adorer of Christmas, and after I mentioned this to them, one of the girls excused herself to the bathroom. Instead of going there, she came back with a fir Christmas candle from the nearby shop that we had gone to. Now, every time I walk into the room with my candle, I am blessed with the lovely aroma of Christmas---and the memories of two lovely new friends.
