Girl at the train station
My mum sent me away for a few weeks when I was young because she didn’t want me around. I was terrified and she yelled at me a lot at the train station for not appreciating how much the train ticket cost. I was 8 years old and was taking a 12 hour trip by myself to somewhere unknown. There was this girl, who would have been about 15 years old. She noticed me crying at the train station and came and sat next to me when my mother left. She held my hand and spoke to me about random things and took my mind off what was to come. This was about 25 years ago and I will forever remember that girl. I think of her often and I hope that she is living a wonderful life. I wish she knew much much that random act of kindness meant to me. The slim chance that she is reading this; it’s people like you who make the world a beautiful place. I’m living a happy life now and I often do my best to turn someone’s unhappy day into a happy one like you did for me.
